The Long Range Transportation Plan for the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region 2045 (LRTP 2045) establishes transportation priorities and provides a strategic direction for transportation policy, planning, and investment decision making for the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. Federal, state, and local governments will use LRTP 2045 to guide decision making regarding the transportation system in the region over the next 25 years.
LRTP 2045 seeks to advance long standing regional transportation needs, such as improving safety, preserving existing assets, and expanding access to alternative modes, while emphasizing the growing need to make transportation services more equitable and accessible for all.
LRTP 2045 includes 78 recommendations organized into the following five categories:
- Health and Safety
- Access and Equity
- System Management and Operations
- Sustainability and Resilience
- Economic Development
Together, these recommendations address the transportation needs of the region’s residents, businesses, and visitors. They will improve safety; enhance access, mobility, and efficiency; safeguard environmental resources; and better link investments in transportation infrastructure and services to regional economic development opportunities.
These recommendations are the result of an assessment of the status and needs of the current transportation system, the identification of emerging issues and opportunities anticipated to impact the region during the timeframe of the plan, and community input received during the summer of 2020 and winter of 2021.
The LRTP 2045 was adopted by the GTC Board at its June 10, 2021 meeting and is available for download below in PDF:
